The Makita 5007NB 7 ¼" circular saw has been on the most popular circular saws for the professional for 20+ years and running. Its well balanced design along with it's heavy gauge aluminum wrapped base coupled with its extremely heavy duty 13 amp motor have proven to be tough. This saw has been known to survive hell on the jobsite from falling off roofs and ladders to running 12 hours straight without a break. To this day Makita still sells this saw but have recently come out with a new upgraded version the 5007MG. Can they improve upon perfection?

The new Makita 5007MG 7 ¼" circular saw is deigned much like its older brother the 5007NB but with quite a few enhancements. The motor has been upgraded to 15 amps producing 2300 watts of power. Using magnesium components makes this saw a super lightweight at 10.1 lbs and its still jobsite tough. Additionally Makita has installed 2 built in LED lights that shine on to the cutting line improving visibility in low light situations as well as a blower which clears the cutting path of debris makes this saw a pleasure to use. Other significant enhancements are the rubberized ergonomically shaped handle, conveniently located depth settings, over sized easy to read markings and positive stops at 45 and 22.5 degrees. While using this saw it proved to be very powerful lightweight and smooth.
